Cornhole

Cornhole is played with 2 or 4 players (4 preferred). The boards are placed 27 feet apart, front to front. Teammates face each other from opposite boards. Play starts at one end with all 8 bags. Each team plays with a set of 4 bags of the same color. Opponents alternate tosses until all 8 bags are thrown. The round is scored. Repeat the play from the other end and the highest scoring team from the previous throw goes first.

The first team to 21 (or higher) wins. A team earns 1 point for bags on the board. They can not hit the ground and then bounce into play, nor can they be touching the ground. Remove all bags from the board that hit the ground first before play is continued. A team earns 3 points for bags that go into the hole. They must go completely in the hole. Bags that are hanging in the hole only count for 1 point. If you or your opponent knocks another bag into the hole, you still get 3 points. The score is the difference in the team totals.

Example:

After 8 bags played, Team #1 has thrown 1 bag into the hole and 3 off the board; their total is then 3 points. Team #2 throws 1 bag on the board and 3 off the board; their total is 1 point. Subtract team #2’s score from team #1’s score and the total score for the round is that team #1 earns 2 points.

Options of play:

  • First to 21 - To win, a team must reach 21 points first at the end of a round.
  • Exact score - To win, a team must reach EXACTLY 21 points without going over. If a team goes over, their score automatically goes down to 16 and the game continues until a team scores 21 points.

Tournament style:

Use a bracket (provided) to conduct a tournament.
